The Home for Handicapped Children and Young People in Veternik is the social welfare type of institution.
The Home takes complete and permanent care of physically and mentally handicapped children and young people. It is their home and their true family. Children and young people who are moderately, severely and very severely handicapped are provided with room, lodging and clothing in the Home in Veternik. This is where they rejoice, work, create, recreate themselves and get their treatment and rehabilitation.

Practical contribution in the field of special teaching that singles out the Home in Veternik among the institutions of a similar type is one special achievement. After the Home had employed its own medical staff the mortality rate among the protégés fell from 25% a year to 1,3%. The average age of immobile and physically disabled protégés was also extended for several years, namely from 30 or 32 to 35-36.
